Stuart Schoenmann

Member of the Board of Directors

Stuart brings more than 30 years of expertise in the applied technology and high-tech manufacturing industry, along with 12 years of CEO or COO experience. In addition to serving as the Chairman of the 3DGS Board of Directors, Stuart serves on the board of various technology companies as part of his VC portfolio. He recently was an operating partner with Norwest Equity Partners (NEP) in the applied technology and high-tech manufacturing industry. He helped NEP evaluate and execute new investment opportunities and add-on acquisitions within the applied technology industry sector, as well as play an active role in strategic planning, business growth and corporate governance for NEP portfolio companies.

Stuart previously served as CEO of CVI Melles Griot, a leading global designer and manufacturer of precision photonics products that was a NEP portfolio company from 2003-2011. Over its eight-year investment period, NEP worked closely with Stuart and his management team to build CVI into a leader within the photonics industry, transitioning the company into a diversified photonics supplier, aggressively expanding its product offerings, and completing four add-on acquisitions. Manufacturing operations were established in eight countries on three continents, and shareholder value was increased through new product and market development, operating initiatives, and a growth strategy focused on technology–driven capabilities. NEP sold CVI to IDEX Corporation (NYSE:IEX) in June 2011 for $423 million. Prior to his CEO post at CVI, Stuart garnered additional career experience through several leadership roles at other leading applied technology companies, including Raytek/Fluke/Danaher, Corning, Perkin-Elmer, and Rockwell International. His experience includes implementing aggressive growth strategies, leading companies from $10 million to $200 million in sales.
